nVision allows you to enable scanning and displaying files located on users' computers. These files are available in the Custom files tab.
This feature allows you to check which files are located on a selected computer, including their exact paths. Files can also be marked and sorted by assigned categories.
2. How to enable user file scanning?
To enable displaying user files, go to the Manage tab and then select Manage policies.
Next, go to the User file scanning tab, select Scan typical user files, and set it as the default option.
In the policy configuration, you can add predefined file extensions, for example for multimedia files or archives. For the purpose of this article, we will also add files with the .exe extension.
After applying this option, wait for a moment until the Agent processes information about the files.
3. How to add a category for file extensions?
To add a new category for file extensions, go to the Main tab and then select Options.
Then, in the File scanner tab, click the plus icon and add a new category. In this example, we will add the Exe category and the .exe extension.
After going to the Custom files tab, the newly added category will be visible. You can use it to filter the view and display only files assigned to this category, in this example files with the .exe extension.
